Brand identity & naming

Lumina Labs is a pro-film lab based in Central Victoria, offering high quality film processing and scanning. Owned and run by John Umina, a photographer and creative, he is known for his meticulous attention to detail and colour judgement.

The business required a name, which was conceived as a play on words. Lumina, meaning light – and the process by which all film is developed – also happened to include John's surname Umina. ✨ The brand colours took cues from the chroma colour aesthetics of film packaging, with the mark itself an abstraction of film rolls and spindles.
